Involvement with the FDA early in her career convinced Woodcock to change her plan to be a clinician and instead, to join the FDA full time. In this talk, she describes the responsibilities of the FDA and the important role of science in converting discoveries into new drugs for human health.
About the speaker
Dr. Woodcock joined the FDA in 1986. She has held a various positions including overseeing the approval of the first biotechnology based treatments for multiple sclerosis and cystic fibrosis. Currently, she is the director of the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research which ensures that drugs in the USA are safe and effective.
